What happens if I let go of the handle while the hand winch is hoisting a load?

MAXPULL’s hand winch is equipped with a mechanical brake acting with the load. If you let go of the handle, the brake is activated and the winch stops. For the shape of the mechanical brake, please refer to the diagram of mechanical brake mechanism.
Explanation of mechanical brake mechanism

The brake of the manual winch does not work.

A manual winch winds up by rotating the handle to the clockwise direction, and it is lowered by rotating the handle counter-clockwise. If the wire rope is wound to the counterclockwise direction (incorrectly), when the wire rope wound around the drum gets loosened and the wire rope is rewound, the mechanical brake will not work and the load falls. When you start winding wire rope, wind the wire rope in the direction indicated on the sticker direction of rotation attached on the hand winch main unit.
 Brake linings are also consumables. If the brake does not work after long-term use, please replace the brake linings with new ones.

The winch brake is jammed and does not move.

While using a manual winch, there are times when an overload function is applied for some reason and the brake gets jammed, and it becomes impossible to turn with the handle. In this case, attach the handle to the 9 o’clock position of a clock and hit it downward with a wooden hammer. The jam should be resolved and it can be lowered.

How can I use a manual capstan winch?

The manual capstan winch is a type of winch that the wire rope is wound around the warping drum about 5 times and the frictional force is used to lift the load. Therefore, the length of the wire rope is infinite. However, in order to generate this frictional force, there must be tension on the wire rope on the opposite side of the load. Please be aware of this when purchasing the product.
*Do not use MC series for lifting loads vertically.

Wanting to hoist the load using mini MAXPULL WINCH PM-100.

The brake of mini MAXPULL WINCH PM-100 type is a manual brake. Winding can be rotated while the claw is hooked, however, when unwinding, it is operated by unhooking the claw. This can be dangerous because the load may drop. When unhooking the claw, hold the handle by hand or unhook it when there is no load.
Please use this mini MAXPULL WINCH (PM-100 type) only at the time of horizontal pulling. When lifting goods vertically, please select mini MAXPULL WINCH PM-200 type because a mechanical brake is attached.

What is a manual ratchet winch used for?

When a hand winch is installed at a narrow space and the handle cannot be rotated 360°, a ratchet winch is suggested. When winding up, tilt a switching knob (red) attached to the ratchet handle to the right side and move the handle back and forth. For winding down, turn the switching knob (red) attached to the ratchet handle to the left side and move the handle back and forth.。

How can I purchase parts of a manual winch?

For manual winches, PM-100, PM-200, GM-1, GM-3, GM-5, GM-10, GM-20, GM-30 types, there are exploded views (PFDF files) created as shown below. Please refer to the exploded view of your model. What is the difference in surface treatment of stainless steel manual winches?

All exterior materials of stainless steel manual winches are stainless steel, however, they are classified into three types depending on the difference of surface treatment as shown below.。
◆ Metallic silver baked finish (ST type) ST-1, ST-3, ST-5, ST-10
◆ Electropolishing (ESB type) ESB-1, ESB-3, ESB-5, ESB-10
◆ Buff polishing (SB type) SB-1, SB-3, SB-5, SB-10

● ST type: metallic silver color paint is baked on stainless steel
● ESB type: stainless steel is electropolished, excellent weather resistance
● SB type: buff polishing is mirror finished and implemented by manually applying

What is electric winch BMW dog clutch series used for?

If the wire rope is wound into the drum of an electric winch, it won’t unravel even if you pull it by hand because the motor is equipped with an electromagnetic brake. For this reason, a dog clutch is attached to the drum. The drum is put into a neutral state by operating the lever and the wire rope can be easily rewound. [Search from application examples]

What is electric winch BMW capstan series used for?

It moves a load using frictional force by winding the wire rope around the drum with an electric winch to the capstan drum about 5 times. Tension is required on the pulling side to generate frictional force.
